About the artist

Jacquline Hurlburt grew up in the plains of Nebraska, a stark yet beautiful landscape that provided fertile ground for the artists imagination. While in college she discovered the power of clay. Soon becoming obsessed with the hypnotic spinning process of throwing clay on the kick wheel.. The figures she creates dramatize the struggle for self-acceptance through the human form. Exploring the various aspects of what we call “Personality.”

The process involves a combination of quick, aggressive clay manipulation and methodical rendering of detail. Using the responsive nature of clay and the natural variations add character to the figures. The artist uses few tools in the creation of her sculpture finding that her hands suffice for most of the sculpting. Working quickly with much gusto gives the finished piece energy and life. Communicating the artists unique expression of her inner world and the world around into the works.
