About the artist

In memoriam (1942-2021)

Dave Robertson was an eminently talented local artist, sculptor and metalsmith who turned his creative focus on silver jewelry designs with elegant abstract patterning. Robertson was especially interested in the scale of jewelry because it allowed him to create sculptural works at his bench rather than at a foundry. Robertson’s unique jewelry designs were inspired by Asian motifs.

Dave Robertson became fascinated with bronze casting in the early 1960's while working on a documentary film about architect Paolo Soleri. Since that time Robertson had been interested in metal smithing and sculpture. After moving to Hawaii in 1967 Robertson began to make his living as a professional sculptor with several group and solo exhibitions.  After 911 Dave Robertson and his wife decided to relocate to the Oregon Coast. He had been working as a full-time metalsmith ever since and had gained much popularity exhibiting at the White Bird Gallery and other venues on the North Coast.

Dave Robertson’s jewelry collection is sold out. He was a favorite among gallery patrons and will be missed.
